nyaniramboThe City of Kigali is one main destination that travelers on safaris in Rwanda usually encounter. Kigali is the main center of Rwanda and has a range of suburbs with different settings and modes of operation. Among these suburbs is Nyamirambo.
Nyamirambo is a noisy neighborhood, multicultural area where the African flair of the real hustle and bustle pageant smells and colors can be encountered. It brings out the life of an ordinary Rwandese and is worth encountering by travelers on Rwanda safaris and tours.
Famously known as the Daily Life Nyamirambo Walking Tour, it is a thrilling package that is put together by Nyamirambo Women’s Center which is a self-help group of about twenty women who are based in the area of Biryogo. Counts of these women are amidst 18 – 40 years who hail from disadvantaged back grounds. Most of them are widows whereas others are single mothers. Three of the women are University graduates while others that have got sponsors have made their way back to school. They operate small enterprises like food vending and hair dressing in the market as it can be witnessed on a safari in Rwanda.
The package involves these women taking travelers down to the places where they derive their daily living including the Muslim Quarter with lots of Arabic influences, the reputable West African and Congolese tailors, Biryogo Market and street side businesses which combine to bring out the famed reputation of Nyamirambo.
This Rwanda safari product takes two hours and involves one of the women hosting the visitors for a Rwandese traditional lunch. The walk begins at the women’s Center opposite the market of Biryogo at the center of Nyamirambo.
This cooperative dates back in 2007 as women sought it wise to keep exchanging ideas, work together and assist each other. At the moment, it boasts of 25 women membership and these people have market for their craft products, food stuff and the entire tourist package in general which is contributing to the arrivals of travelers undertaking safaris to Rwanda.
