Birding Experience in Lake Mburo National Park –Uganda Safaris News

Lake Mburo national park is proud of an estimated number of 350 bird species among these include the unique Red-faced Barbet bird species which is only found in Lake Mburo national park in Uganda.
Lake Mburo national park is the smallest savannah protected area and it covers an area of 370 kilometers. Visitors on Uganda safaris can enjoy bird watching on the interesting wetlands which  constitute 20% of the park’s surfaces area. The swampy valleys of Warukiri and Miriti act as habitant to various unique bird species. Among the remarkable bird species which can be easily watched in these swamps include the Brown Parrot ,Brown-chested Lapwing, Ross’s Turaco, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Red-headed Lovebird , Green Wood-hoopoe ,Bare-faced Go-away-bird as well as the Common Scimitarbill, Long-tailed Cisticola ,White-headed Barbet, Yellow-breasted Apalis ,African Finfoot and the rare species of the Red-faced Barbet which is only found in Mburo in Uganda.
Rubange forest is one of the prominent areas in Lake Mburo where travelers on  birding safaris to Uganda can experience different species of birds .Some of the forest bird species housed in this part of lake Mburo national park involve Bateleur, Black-bellied Bustard, Coqui Francolin as well as Rufous-bellied Heron, Brown-chested Lapwing and Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Brown Parrot, Red-headed Lovebird. Around Rubange forest visitors will enjoy moving in the tropical high forest with a closed canopy .The area has a viewing platform for where visitors can base to enjoy the surrounding of the area and also watching the various bird life. Rubange is home to a variety of forest birds such as the Harrier Hawk, Green Pigeon as well as Narina Trogon, Double-toothed Barbet and Grey-backed Cameroptera. The forest can be well explored by help of the ranger guide who is well experienced with the trails, corners of interest to birders.
The rare acacia woodland vegetation in the park acts as home to the acacia woodland bird species which are well represented and easily sighted in the protected area and these include the Yellow-rumped Tinker bird, Blue-breasted Kingfisher, Hairy-breasted Barbet and among others.
In nutshell, Uganda is truly birding destination of its own and its can’t be compared to other countries in East Africa. This implies that to any world traveler  interested in memorable birding watching experience should look no further than Uganda the pearl of Africa.

Mountain Gorilla Behavior,Diet,Threats and Predators
