Uganda tourism board secures 4 billion shillings to market Uganda – Uganda safaris news

UTBThe Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) the body that is responsible for marketing Uganda as a safari destination so as to invigorate world travelers to undertake safaris to Uganda has always carried out several promotions across various target market segments to popularize the country.
According to the Chief Executive Director of UTB Mr. Stephen Asiimwe noted that the board has earmarked $1.5 million approximately 4.2 billion shillings through the World Bank’s Competitiveness Enterprise Development Project (CEDP) initiative to enable it run its promotional campaign that will in turn see travellers on undertaking safaris and tours in Uganda increase.
The campaign will see the body secure competent firms that will market Uganda bringing out the vast attractions and rich biodiversity that Uganda is endowed with. The selected agencies will target three regions including North America and Canada, German Speaking Countries of German, Switzerland and Austria and United Kingdom and Ireland enhancing their awareness about Uganda and stimulating them to undertake Uganda safari tours.
The role of these agencies will include clearing air about Uganda by targeting big media companies and tour operators in these originating areas not forgetting extensive social media campaigns and respective meetings which will all be geared at marketing Uganda as a rich tourist destination something that will in turn popularize Uganda safaris and tours.
Tourism is so far the biggest foreign exchange earner or Uganda after reaching 1.4 million arrivals in 2014 generating $1.4 billion approximately 4 trillion Uganda shillings which is far higher than 600,000 arrivals and 1.2 billion Uganda shillings that the industry degenerated in the year 2006.
