eatingMountain gorilla trekking is an important tourist activity in Uganda and it’s mainly carried out in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and in Mgahinga National Park. The gorilla group found in Mgahinga National Park is not constant since it keeps on crossing from Uganda to Rwanda; this has promoted Bwindi as the most gorilla sanctuary.
Before tracking gorillas in Uganda, you have to pre book a gorilla permit which costs 500 USD for international tourists, in addition to the permit, you will need transport to from the park, inclusive of the airport transfers, here it depends whether you book with a company to transport you or you drive yourself.
With booking a gorilla permit for mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi, you can either book with a tour company or contact Uganda Wildlife Authority; however the gorilla permits in Uganda are only confirmed when paid in full.
For the case of arranging a gorilla permit for yourself, try to ensure that you pick your gorilla permit from the booking office before proceeding for gorilla tracking to Bwindi. Presentation of the permit and passport will be required in order to be allowed to track the mountain gorillas.
For transport means to Bwindi, a 4*4 vehicle will be need to go mountain gorilla trekking to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, in case you want to hire a car for travelling, you will need to hire a car at $100  without fuel but with a driver per day. Public transport is also available for those who would want to travel alone to go gorilla tracking safaris to Bwindi.
The mountain gorilla trekking time is really unpredictable, so the exercise might take you the entire day, so it’s always advisable to book the accommodation for the night before you trek. A packed lunch is also good to carry as well as drinking water for the trek.
The accommodation you chose for a mountain gorilla safari will depend on the gorilla permit. There are different groups which are located in different sectors. Some gorilla groups are located in the southern sector and others in the northern sector, and so a particular group which allocate a type of accommodate to have while trekking.
Porters and walking sticks can be hired before you start your trek, porters at $15 to carry your luggage and the sticks at $5 for easy walking. This business is mainly community based and it’s carried out in order to give back to the community. This shows that the community benefits from the mountain gorilla safaris.
