Bigodi Community Tourism in Kibale-Prime Uganda Safaris & Tours Safari updates

shtghtBigodi is a village which is located in the highlands of western Uganda, it’s found in the shadows of Rwenzori Mountains, which are commonly known as the mountains of the moon. This village has attracted many Uganda safaris and its located 40 kilometers from fort portal town, and it borders Kibale National park, which is one of the largest and beautiful National park in Uganda.
The Village is commonly famous for the wetland sanctuary and swamp, which has attracted many safaris to Uganda and it’s located in the Mangobe Wetland which is the main attraction in Kibale Forest. This wetland is operated by Kibale Association for Rural and Environmental Development (KAFRED); it has also got a women group which is good at making the art facts which are sold to the tourists for income.
This organisation was formed in 1992 with the main purpose of protecting the local environment, educating the local community and encouraging economic development. Another purpose of this organisation is to protect the biodiversity and the wildlife with in the swamp which has continued to attract safaris in Uganda.
The area is mainly recognised for several primate species, like the red colobus monkey, black and white colobus monkeys, and blue monkeys, grey cheeked, baboons, mangabey, the ververt monkeys, the red tailed monkeys and L’Hoest monkeys which are liked by the tourists who come for safari visits to Uganda.
In addition , to the monkeys, there are also other mammals like the chimpanzees, bush pigs, bush dusks and the sitatunga, which are found both in Kibale National Park and in Bigodi, these have been visited by many visitors who come for Uganda safaris.
Bigodi is also well known for bird watching and it has always supported tourists who come for birding safaris. There are also 200 species of birds which are found in this park, the common bird is the great blue turacco.
